He's most weakest after he explodes, which he had been when he'd hit the ground after that fight in Vought. And Vought security had been on him before he'd even come to from the explosion, because it even did a number on him. Even if he'd shake it off eventually with barely a bruise on himself.

He'd woken up to the team trying to change hands, passing him off to the cryo team that was supposed to keep him asleep, but there had been a problem with the mask and the drugs being pumped through it. He'd woken for half a second, and that's really all it had taken to be off the table and both teams dead. Not that it'd made it to the news, Vought would never want the world to know that Soldier Boy was back on the hunt again.

Twice as angry as the first time when Butcher had been promising him things.

And he had a new target group in mind, mainly those that had been in that room, turned against him, and caused him to nearly end up back in captivity.

He'd considered going after Butcher first, human and vulnerable. But Butcher had training too, he'd seen it when the two had fought Homelander together. The most vulnerable had been that bendy string bean, which is why he'd worked to track the man down, foot kicking in the door of the place Hughie had been hiding in. It's not his fault the blonde might be with him. But oh did he have bone to pick with her too.

Things were supposed to be better now that Soldier Boy was in custody. The world was a lot safer with him on ice. He couldn't be killed and that was a problem. Not that Annie wanted him dead, she just didn't want any more innocent people to die because of him. So she'd done what she'd had to do.

It had taken all of them to stand against him and it had barely been enough. Maeve had to stop him and even that had only been enough to subdue him long enough to gas him. But that was over now. Annie had quit the Seven. She was now a member of the Boys, even if she and Butcher didn't exactly see eye to eye.

Truth be told, Annie blamed Butcher for a lot of what happened. She definitely blamed him for what had happened to Hughie. Or...almost happened. Thankfully Butcher had a crisis of conscience. Who knew he'd even had one? But Annie was still pretty bitter about the whole thing.

She was with Hughie, neither of them knew they had anything to fear until Soldier Boy had kicked the door in. And then...

Instinctively, Annie jumped to her feet and pushed Hughie behind her, her eyes already starting to glow.

He'd argue considering he was able to get back on his feet that it hadn't been enough. Not in the slightest. All it had really done was piss him off and make him want even more revenge. Her joining Butcher's team and the Boys was only even better for him because it meant that everyone was just that much easier to hunt down. Because finding here, well, that's really just a perk.

His brow arches and there's an amused little smirk at her eyes glowing. Like that was much of a threat. Even when her boyfriend has supercharged him and she'd floated just a little it hadn't hurt that badly, not nearly what he could do to her. "You really think your little lightbulb trick is going to work on me this time around?"

Hughie knew this was not going to end well. Ben was likely here to kill him for his involvement. Fucking Butcher. This was all his fault. But Annie should not have to die for Hughie's mistake. She only ever wanted to keep innocent people safe. So Hughie did something that was very brave but also very stupid. He moved from behind Annie, hands up defensively.

"Hey, no. Annie's got nothing to do with this. She doesn't deserve to die. Let her go." He pleaded with him.

Annie knew she didn't stand a chance against Ben, but she had to do something. And she didn't want Hughie sacrificing himself here either. "This is not Hughie's fault either. Butcher used you. Got you all riled up and pointed you at Homelander." Maybe they could reason with him, but Annie somehow doubted it.

"Like you all didn't go along with it, thinking I could take out the thorn in your ass. And then just hand me back over to the suits to be put back on ice." There's a snarl from him as he listens to both of them try to argue their way out of this. Like that was even an option. No. He wanted revenge, pain, and to hear that little twig of a man's bones snap under his hands, his booths.

He took a slow step in. He could rush them, but there's fear in both of them. He could practically smell it. "I'm going to end you both before I find your fucked up leader and see to it he never sees another breath either. The question is, do you want to die quickly or slowly, blondie."

Both Annie and Hughie knew they didn't have a chance in hell against him. They were going to die. At least it was a comfort that they would die together, Annie supposed. Hughie was kicking himself that he couldn't teleport them to safety. There was nothing they could do. There was no reasoning with this psycho.

"Fuck you," Annie said, not giving him the satisfaction of an answer. It wasn't that she wanted to die, or for Hughie to die. But they didn't have a prayer. And she wasn't going to beg, knowing it would fall on deaf ears. She couldn't save Hughie and Hughie couldn't save her.

"Do it," Hughie said, taking Annie's hand in his. He just hoped it was over quickly.

A smirk lifts his lips at the fuck you from Annie, because god help him he did enjoy her smart mouth. A woman that could stand up for herself, it was a rare thing even in this new age he'd found himself in. And honestly, it was something he wanted to play with, to keep her around under his thumb at least for a while yet.

Her stick man. Not some much. His foot shifted just a little, pushing himself forward with a quick move toward Hughie. His hand coming out to catch the man around the throat and pivot to throw him, hard into the wall. Hard enough to dent. Hard enough to hurt, but not kill. Quick wasn't actually an option. "Gladly."

"Hughie!" Annie exclaimed as he was tossed into the wall. Her eyes began to glow. She might not be able to kill Ben or even do a lot of damage but maybe she could keep him distracted so Hughie could get away. It was clear that Ben planned on enjoying this double murder. She wasn't going to make it easy for him.

Already she was drawing power from the lights in the room around them. She sent a blast in his direction. "Hughie, run!" She said. Hughie of course wasn't really in any condition to run after being thrown into the wall, but he scrambled to get to his feet.
